An honest estimate, not a promise. These tools apply the published DVA, CSC and VEA rates that drive every payment letter. Your real outcome turns on service history, accepted conditions, offsets, dependants and case-by-case discretion - the human details a calculator cannot see. Use the number to start the conversation, then bring it to Witton Lane for the financial plan or KSC Law for the claim itself.

About CSC invalidity pensions

The Defence super piece behind every DVA calculation

The Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation administers the three military super schemes. If you are medically discharged, your scheme pays an invalidity pension - and that pension quietly sets the floor for what DVA can pay on top through incapacity payments and SRDP, because the same income cannot be compensated twice.

How it works

  • Your scheme depends on when you joined DFRDB (joined pre-October 1991), MSBS (Oct 1991 - June 2016), or ADF Cover (from 1 July 2016).
  • On medical discharge a CSC delegate assigns a classification Class A (severely incapacitated for civilian work), Class B (substantially incapacitated), or Class C (no significant incapacity, no pension).
  • Class A pays 76.5% of Final Average Salary as an annual pension under DFRDB and MSBS. Class B pays 38.25%. ADF Cover uses a separate formula based on prospective service to age 60.
  • DVA offsets the weekly pension downstream at 85% for DFRDB and 100% for MSBS and ADF Cover when calculating incapacity payments and SRDP.

Who it applies to

A CSC invalidity pension is payable where:

  • You are being medically discharged from the ADF (not voluntarily separating).
  • You are a contributing member of DFRDB, MSBS or covered by ADF Cover at the time of discharge.
  • A CSC delegate has classified your incapacity as Class A or Class B.
